Will Doran

The Yoga Coach
Seattle

I began my study of yoga in 1998 primarily as a way to work with physical injuries in my spine and knee. I quickly fell in love with the practice and moved deeper into the study of Tantric philosophy and the rich core of yoga spirituality. I strive to bring this love into each class I teach.

In 2004 I began my study of Anusara Yoga at Seattle Yoga Arts and completed the required Immersion and Teacher Training courses under the guidance of Denise Benitez and Elizabeth Rainey.  Additionally, I have attended extensive training with John Friend, Desiree Rumbaugh, Noah Mazé, Ross Rayburn, and Paul Muller-Ortega who initiated me into the Neelakanta lineage of yoga meditation. My Certification mentor, Barbara Adams, helped me achieve the final stages of Anusara training leading to my full certification ub 2014.

I currently am serving as the USA Regional Representative of Anusara School of Hatha Yoga.  I am here to serve and help all ASHY teachers and students in any way possible. My goal is to raise the awareness of Anusara Yoga and its unique and exquisite way of bringing a deep spiritual element and life-affirming Tantric teaching to Hatha Yoga.  This includes being part of the team bringing the key teaching principles, philosophy and personal touches to the ASHY website.

I bring to class a depth of experience dealing with the challenges of life, both physical and emotional, and the insight into how we can turn our unique experiences and challenges into the very material that refines our spiritual practice. My surgeries (knee, spine, hip, eyes) have deepened my understanding of working with limitations while still affirming the goodness of life.  Additionally, as a husband and father I have gained great insight into "hugging the midline" while supporting my wife through two bouts with cancer and raising two sons.  My classes reflect both a gravitas and a lightness of being. I feel qualified to connect deeply with others knowing that we all have some story affecting our life and practice.

In addition to teaching yoga asana classes I have over four years experience teaching stress reduction and meditation workshops for the two local county governments, King and Snohomish counties.  I am open to work with any organization looking to explore yoga prinicples and their benefits.
