Functional Anatomy As It Applies to Yoga (session 1)
Limited Capacity filling up

This group of six sessions gives you a taste of the full 24-hour module in ASHY’s new 300-Hour Advanced Teacher Training, and at the end, students receive credit for 12 hours of this module.

These two days, our focus will be on the anatomy of the spine and the pelvis, applying this to the Universal Principles of Alignment for the lower body, and to forward bends and asymmetrical poses (those with a front and a back leg, including most of the standing poses).

We recommend that students attend all of Wednesday, all of Thursday, or all six sessions, but if you can only attend one, we recommend the morning sessions. Sessions include Powerpoint anatomy presentations, asana practice, and hands-on adjustments working with partners. Also there is a fabulous student handout. To be translated into Italian.

Heart Theming - Find Your Own Unique Voice
Limited Capacity seats available

Sharing magical teaching tales and collaborating to create an Anusara yoga class that takes students on a journey into their hearts is purpose of this workshop. This workshop invites teachers to refine their storytelling skills, to mine their story for heart qualities that illustrate yogic wisdom teachings and to discover the Universal principles that will compliment those qualities and allow the student to imbibe these teachings kinesthetically. Finding each person's own unique voice brings an authenticity to your teaching. Like Jazz musicians we will cultivate skills to riff on the theme and keep that theme fresh for each class you teach.

Introduction to Ayurveda
Limited Capacity seats available

What's your dosha? And what do you do about it? The science of Ayurveda teaches us to observe the qualities of the five elements not only in our bodies, but in every aspect of our life: the seasons, our daily practice, our time in life… In this workshop we will learn to use these qualities to read the patterns in our own unique bodies and identify what it looks like to be in and out of a state of balance. Through this practice the 5 elements become keys to understanding our true nature and how to ride the wave of our own healing process.

Divine Alignment: Broaden the Bandwidth of Your Personal Shakti
Limited Capacity seats available

Our modern yoga approach does not rely on a guru and the idea of energy transmission from the teacher to the student often gets lost as we emphasize asana and alignment. At the same time, you experience that some teachers transmit the essence of yoga like high speed internet, even if their teaching is technically less skilled. In this workshop, you will discover how increase your bandwidth to the divine and systematically channel shakti, creative live force. You will learn a krama — a series of steps — that you can practice and refine. Your benefit: -Shakti flows through you more freely invigorating you while you teach. -Your students experience a sense of wholeness — purna — and look forward to coming back for more.

Anusara yoga e l'arte dello storytelling / Anusara Theme and the Art of Storytelling (Taught in Italian)
Limited Capacity filling up

Dharmic Movement with the UPA's (session 2) - Workshop
Limited Capacity filling up

For this workshop session, an Orthopedic perspective of what is Dharmic for the body will be presented.  When practicing asana, it is easy to practice for circulation, fun or challenging asana development.  When it comes to practicing for the health of the bones and joints, what is healthy may be more complex and in the long term, potentially more important.  When the joints wear out, the movement will deteriorate and eventually stop.   This session will present the loops and spirals as kinematic road-maps for how to use the body for longevity rather than advanced asana development.  There is no need for previous anatomy or bio-mechanics study for this session; Adam will be presenting a small amount of anatomy, bio-mechanics and kinesiology, directly related to the Loops used in Anusara Yoga for the purpose of practicing asana and aging well.   This session will include a small amount of Loop movement skill practice and integration into asana and transition, as well as lecture, demonstration and presentation.

Creating A Pranayama Practice
Limited Capacity seats available

The benefits of having a pranayama practice, combined or separate from asana practice are many. Learning to work more with your breath and prana will give you a kind of lightness and another quality in your asana practice. Pranayama also requires our full attention and can offer us a similar deep inner state such as in meditation. In this class we will learn how to prepare our bodies properly for pranayama by using asana and specific stretching exercises to create space in the chest and torso. We will take time to practice and explore the full yogic breath, and look in detail several techniques such as Viloma, Kapalaphati, Samavritti and Nadi sodhana pranayama. At the end we will learn and practice some combinations of short and longer pranayama sequences which we can do at home every day. This class is suitable for students and teachers who are more experienced with pranayama and for students with little or no experience at all.
