Opening Practice! "One Breath, One Heart"
Limited Capacity filling up

Let's all open together in our beautiful Pavillon des Fleurs with Piero, Barbra, Susana and Benita.

One of the main Tantric teachings is that we are all One. One breath, one heart. Kula means both community and heart and it is a foundational concept in the Anusara practice. Lets start this gathering of Samavesha breathing together, moving together, sharing in our power and our love.

We welcome everyone from all around the world to the Samavesha Festival 2017 with an asana practice inspired by our festival theme, “Unity in Diversity” . In the Community Meeting that follows, the festival organizers will formally welcome everyone, help to introduce the Festival and orient us to what will happen this week.

Ease in Backbends
Limited Capacity filling up

Level 1/2 - Backbends are very often practiced with an inner need of control which shows in too much effort in the pose. In this workshop we will find out that backbends actually will be more graceful and done with ease if we allow ourselves to trust more into the earth, to settle into what gives foundation and to trust in order to open up. We will work physically to root into our hips more, to really release the thighs and the weight into our foundation and to do this with patience and a lot of awareness.

Find Your Dharma and Be Your Color Within the Rainbow of the Universe
Limited Capacity seats available

Level 1/2 - The body is the image: every part of the body is a body part, but each one has its own function. Each one of us is a part of the Universe with the same Essence, but each one of us has a different rasa, a different function, a different dharma. And each one of us is essential to express the beauty of the rainbow of the Universe, exactly as each cell of the body is essential to our life. By aligning the body through the UPA, we remember who we are at our deepest Essence and we recognize that what we are is important for the Universe, but also that what others are is essential for life. This will help us to find the courage and the strength to be ourselves, to be one of the colors of the rainbow of the Universe and to participate so that this rainbow can shine at its fullest. Apex Pose: Hanumanasana

Heart Theming - Find Your Own Unique Voice
Limited Capacity seats available

Sharing magical teaching tales and collaborating to create an Anusara yoga class that takes students on a journey into their hearts is purpose of this workshop. This workshop invites teachers to refine their storytelling skills, to mine their story for heart qualities that illustrate yogic wisdom teachings and to discover the Universal principles that will compliment those qualities and allow the student to imbibe these teachings kinesthetically. Finding each person's own unique voice brings an authenticity to your teaching. Like Jazz musicians we will cultivate skills to riff on the theme and keep that theme fresh for each class you teach.

What's your dosha? And what do you do about it? Coming Back Home
Limited Capacity seats available

Level 1/2 - Life often gives us opportunities to feel, to learn, to grow. Sometimes these opportunities come disguised in challenges that take us away from our center, away from home. Making us feel small and fragile. It is then when we need to keep closer to our hearts, and allow ourselves to stay open to life, helping us to stay connected with the inner strength and with the inner light. Through back bends we help our selves to open up, to soften up towards the awareness of our great inner strength so we can bring ourselves back home and shine from inside out. Apex Pose: Pincha Mayurasana

Divine Alignment: Broaden the Bandwidth of Your Personal Shakti
Limited Capacity seats available

Our modern yoga approach does not rely on a guru and the idea of energy transmission from the teacher to the student often gets lost as we emphasize asana and alignment. At the same time, you experience that some teachers transmit the essence of yoga like high speed internet, even if their teaching is technically less skilled. In this workshop, you will discover how increase your bandwidth to the divine and systematically channel shakti, creative live force. You will learn a krama — a series of steps — that you can practice and refine. Your benefit: -Shakti flows through you more freely invigorating you while you teach. -Your students experience a sense of wholeness — purna — and look forward to coming back for more.

To start working on the area which is in pain is sometimes not the best solution. How to find a starting point to work with Asanas or Breath to heal the affected part of the body and prevent the Person to stay in a protective posture, which can cause further problems – especially during Asana practice. The workshop is designed to start looking from a different point of view to see various possibilities to support Yoga students with injuries.

Vedremo anche come diverse tecniche utilizzate dallo storytelling presentino interessanti analogie con i principi di allineamento universali di Anusara yoga.

I Am Because of You - The Support of Your Kula
Limited Capacity seats available

Level 1/2 - As individuals we are all on our paths. At the same time we all walk together through our lives. In challenging times we often forget, where we can recharge our self. We are so focused on a problem or on a very strong emotion, that we lose the connection to our self and our beloved fellows. We feel alone, we feel disconnected and we maybe even lose our faith in our self. If we recognize that we are not alone, that we are surrounded by amazing humans who are interested in us, we are more in harmony, we feel stronger and life is more joyful. Since thousands of generation humans live together in groups, tribes or in a kula. A kula creates a space for each individual, disregarding any race, religion, color or gender, each of us is welcome to be as they are. We will start with some partner poses to get to know each other, move through some handstands and if the kula wants to go there, we will support each other in eka hasta adho mukha vrksasana.

Dharmic Movement with the UPA's (session 2) - Workshop
Limited Capacity filling up

For this workshop session, an Orthopedic perspective of what is Dharmic for the body will be presented.  When practicing asana, it is easy to practice for circulation, fun or challenging asana development.  When it comes to practicing for the health of the bones and joints, what is healthy may be more complex and in the long term, potentially more important.  When the joints wear out, the movement will deteriorate and eventually stop.   This session will present the loops and spirals as kinematic road-maps for how to use the body for longevity rather than advanced asana development.  There is no need for previous anatomy or bio-mechanics study for this session; Adam will be presenting a small amount of anatomy, bio-mechanics and kinesiology, directly related to the Loops used in Anusara Yoga for the purpose of practicing asana and aging well.   This session will include a small amount of Loop movement skill practice and integration into asana and transition, as well as lecture, demonstration and presentation.

Limited Capacity seats available

The benefits of having a pranayama practice, combined or separate from asana practice are many. Learning to work more with your breath and prana will give you a kind of lightness and another quality in your asana practice. Pranayama also requires our full attention and can offer us a similar deep inner state such as in meditation. In this class we will learn how to prepare our bodies properly for pranayama by using asana and specific stretching exercises to create space in the chest and torso. We will take time to practice and explore the full yogic breath, and look in detail several techniques such as Viloma, Kapalaphati, Samavritti and Nadi sodhana pranayama. At the end we will learn and practice some combinations of short and longer pranayama sequences which we can do at home every day. This class is suitable for students and teachers who are more experienced with pranayama and for students with little or no experience at all.

Final Community Asana Practice "The Joy of Offering and Receiving" (Translated into Italian)
Limited Capacity filling up

Offering and Receiving is a beautiful cycle that exists in all of yoga, from the Veda’s “swaha” to the Gita’s “offer the fruit of your actions”, to “offer the fruits of your asana practice to something bigger” in Anusara yoga. For those of us who have attended Samavesha 2017, we can contemplate all that we’ve received, all that we’ve offered, what we will continue to offer in our communities, and receive, and enjoy this up-tempo, full spectrum class for all levels of students.

In English - Translated in to Italian. We conclude the Samavesha Festival 2017 with a 90 minute asana session taught by Alessandra di Prampero, and Jayendra Hanley followed by a Community Farewell. We’ll celebrate all that we experienced this week and will enjoy sharing with our communities when we return to our homes.
